Men, women shop with similar styles
In response to Meredith Jones' "Shopping habits reveal need for lifestyle change," Nov. 3, I invite her to my male friend's dorm room. The other day, as I helped fold his laundry, I discovered an entire shelf devoted to pants. He has 14 pairs of jeans and khakis. He doesn't spend his time drooling over American Eagle's newest pants, but that doesn't mean he spends any less money on them. Has Jones ever been to a Penn State class? Unless sweats and flip-flops are her idea of "dressing to impress," I don't know what she is talking about. Maybe female Penn State students deserve a little more credit. I'm not afraid to shop at Target or to hit up the clearance racks at Gap. If I decide I need this year's Eastern Mountain Sports black fleece, maybe it's because my mom shrank last year's North Face fleece. Whether or not the majority of women share my shopping views, the men here certainly shouldn't be excluded from Jones' scolding. Amanda Wick
