With only nine roster spots filled before the official start of practice, the Penn State women's basketball team had a bench as deep as Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham.
To remedy the situation, the Lady Lions conducted open walk-on tryouts in early October and have since added a player to their roster.
Brittany Remmey, a junior shooting guard, was the lone selection from a group of 10 girls that tried out, and she has been with the team since the start of practice in mid-October.
Remmey spent her prep days at Central Bucks West High School in Chalfont. She is not a complete stranger to the Lady Lions team, as she played on the same AAU team as current Penn State junior forward and captain Amanda Brown.
After high school, Remmey was a member of the university's club basketball team. She served as the club's president last year.
Freshman point guard Brianne O'Rourke said that Remmey has fit in well.
"Just stepping into a team that's already had practice, already had conditioning, already been working together, she's done a great job," O'Rourke said. "She catches on quick."
