Phroth provides humor to university community
I am writing in response to Wednesday's letter to the editor regarding Phroth ("Phroth lacks taste at Homecoming parade," Nov. 2). As Phroth's editor in chief, Teddy Whisperton's statements offended me. Phroth is a humor magazine, and if he had thought to look past the cover and read the content he would have realized that. Phroth has always taken an enormous amount of pride in school spirit. Why else would we participate in the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon or be in the Homecoming parade? With an extremely limited budget and resources, we did the best we could with a shopping cart, a banner and free magazines. In fact, I would argue that because of our unusual "float" we were more memorable than some of the more conventional groups. The purpose of Phroth is to make people laugh, and I believe we achieved that. We also took free copies of Phroth to the students camping out in Paternoville so they could have some laughs while sleeping outside in the cold. If that's not pride, I don't know what is. So forgive us if we do not fit your mold of model Penn Staters but we do our part. Perhaps if you stopped looking at the world with such a narrow view you would realize that. Emily Sahl
