Confidence crucial; latest fashion trivial
In response to Meredith Jones' column "Shopping habits reveal need for lifestyle change," Nov 3, she hit the nail right on the head. I know people like to look good in their Abercrombie & Fitch clothes and their North Face jackets, but I don't understand why on earth someone would spend $150 on a pair of jeans or a sweater that "supposedly" makes them look extra hot. Maybe I don't speak for all the guys out there, but I would much rather prefer a nice, down-to-earth girl who looks good no matter what she wears and doesn't spend thousands of dollars on her wardrobe. My girlfriend and I go to Abercrombie & Fitch and shop sometimes, but we realize it's the person on the inside that makes us look good. So to everyone out there, in particular girls (although not all girls), quit wasting your money on 80 pairs of jeans, 30 pairs of shoes, and 200 shirts. Just be yourself and don't get caught up in all the advertising. And believe me, you'll look 100 times better in a sweatshirt, sweat pants and sneakers than you'll ever look in those out of style Ugg boots. Just throw them away and like Jones said, "be thrifty and confident, and stop being a statistic." Matt Calabrese
