Local law enforcement agencies said there would be no extra manpower deployed this weekend for Saturday's game against Wisconsin.
State College Police Department Sgt. Mark Argiro said the police presence this weekend will be comparable to that of last week's game against Purdue -- the stadium parking lots, gates, seats and the downtown area will be monitored like any other big game.
"I think some of the euphoria has subdued," Argiro said. "Fans are going to expect us to do well."
Penn State University Police Assistant Director Dwight Smith said that although he could not discuss specific police tactics, university officers have been planning different alternatives to deal with potential post-game celebrations.
"Certainly this is a bigger game ... and we understand the potential for inappropriate crowd behavior," Smith said.
He said the police are prepared to keep fans off the stadium field after the game, and they would use "appropriate and necessary" force.
"The potential for injury, death and property damage is heightened when crowds rush the field," Smith said.
