Phroth lacks taste at Homecoming parade
I would like to thank The Daily Collegian for their coverage on the 2005 Homecoming parade ("Character floats liven celebration," Oct. 31). As a Penn State alumnus, it is nice to know that some traditions remain intact and the Homecoming parade was no exception. However, I must voice my disapproval of Phroth. From what I have seen, Phroth is supposed to be a humor magazine but I saw nothing funny about their magazine or their sorry excuse for Penn State pride. I don't consider myself a prude; in fact I like to think I am an easygoing guy, but there is a time and place for humor. The fact that Phroth used a shopping cart as a float to desecrate such a great tradition as the Homecoming parade only proves my point. Running down the street and screaming God only knows what during a festive family event is unacceptable. They handed out a magazine with a Nittany Lion on the cover being roasted on a stick. Is that the kind of message we want to send to everyone? Shame on you, Phroth. Teddy Whisperton
