NEWS

A recent BusinessWeek article ranked Penn State's Smeal College of Business in the top 10 business college programs in the world for executive education.

Though Joe Paterno and his team have a few weeks left before heading to Michigan State, competition between the Nittany Lions and the Spartans is already brewing.

Students participating in the Penn State-Michigan State Blood Donor Challenge will simultaneously be competing in the Blood Cup, a Penn State competition between student organizations to see which group can donate the most blood.

Halloween in State College means more than just costumes, parties and trick-or-treating.

Despite a recent Associated Press poll concluding that people are ruder today than they were 20 years ago, many people in State College say they have no major complaints about impoliteness.

Characters from Shrek, Care Bears, Family Guy and The Incredibles came together Friday night to dance, sing and celebrate Penn State's annual homecoming parade.

Children dressed in Halloween costumes stood along the homecoming parade route Friday night holding signs that read "Bring back the old parade" while they waited for candy and other treats that would never come.

When Gretchen Lasser (junior-animal science) stepped on stage Saturday night, she wore loose-fitting jeans and a baggy T-shirt, accompanied by a fresh supply of facial hair and a short haircut styled much differently than usual.

Four years after Penn State student Cindy Song first disappeared, the last vestiges of those who knew her are leaving Penn State.

Man arrested after assault in stadium; Officer injured; student faces charges; Thon theme announced during parade; Straylight Run to perform at Crowbar

The first sunny, warm fall day in nearly two weeks brought together everyone from Penn State tutors to local Girl Scout troops at the fifth annual Steps to Safety 5K Walk/Run yesterday afternoon.

Though Penn State fans booed the Boilermakers at the beginning of Saturday's football game, the overall sportsmanship of the Beaver Stadium fans improved over fan behavior at the Ohio State game Oct. 8, said Ryan Bennington, Off-Campus Student Union president and Undergraduate Student Government multicultural affairs director.

SPORTS

Trailing Purdue 7-6 in the second quarter of Saturday's game, Penn State drove from its own 20-yard line to the 2-yard line of Purdue in four plays looking for the go-ahead score.

It's not easy being a fullback.

PSU ties for 7th place at women's golf tourney

To classify Penn State football's special teams on Saturday as "hair raising" might be a bit harsh.

The game ended in familiar enough fashion: Jason Yeisley scores a golden goal, the Penn State men's soccer team wins dramatically, the team rushes the field.

The name Rachel Dawson will probably haunt and energize the Penn State field hockey team in its pursuit of a national championship in the next couple weeks.

The nickname "Big Girl" is rarely given to those undeserving of such a moniker.

Once again, the Penn State men's rugby team has demonstrated that it has what it takes and remains undefeated.

Falling well short of its pre-race goal, the Penn State men's cross country team registered a disappointing ninth place at the Big Ten Championships yesterday at the University of Minnesota.

Give Joe Tiller some credit. The Purdue head coach schemed some nice blitzes, and his quarterbacks ran some nice options, and his team was more competitive than its winless conference record reveals.

Penn State's Tiffany Weimer and Portland's Christine Sinclair have been inextricably linked throughout history.

Graham Spanier was present for Friday night's Penn State women's volleyball game at Rec Hall; the Penn State president was doubling as color commentator for a local TV station.

Redshirt junior Cilk McSweeney contorted his body like Stretch Armstrong, inching every aching muscle upward during his frog-like vertical jump, in an attempt to pick off an errant pass.

The search for perfection is supposedly a futile task. Supposedly, perfection is impossible to achieve and to even try to attain it is often regarded as foolish.

Coming out flat for Friday night games is becoming a trend for the No. 2 Penn State ACHA Division I Icers. Luckily, so is rebounding from those games to close out their weekend with a victory.

Like New York City police during New Year's in Times Square, the Penn State men's soccer team has had to work a lot of overtime.

Was there a pep rally Friday night or something? Maybe a triple-kegger at your ex-roommate's frat that couldn't be missed?

Bar Bleu, 114 S. Garner St., will have happy hour from 9 to 11 p.m. and $1.25 Miller Lite drafts until midnight (237-0374).
