PSU ties for 7th place at women's golf tourney
The Nittany Lions tied for the seventh place at the Landfall Tradition in North Carolina with a score of 938. The tournament, hosted by UNC-Wilmington was played on the par-72 Landfall Country Club.
The Penn State women's golf team has played in five events this season and finished in the top 10 in each of them. This was the last event of the fall season for the Lions.
Senior Amber Weinerth finished first individually for the team, tying for 13th place. Weinerth shot scores of 74-73-80.
Sophomore Sara Lester tied for 34th with scores of 81-80-76. Junior Maggie Lester, who has finished tops for the Lions in the last two tournaments they played in, tied for 36th with rounds of 80-77-81. Junior Evelyn Paik, with scores of 86-78-78, tied for 46th place. Rounding out for the Lions was senior Lauren Lundy who finished in 55th place with scores of 87-74-89.
The Landfall Tradition was won by Purdue with a score of 877. Wake Forest came in second place with an 894.
With this finish, the Lions should be in good standings going into the spring season. This finish should improve both their national rankings and their standings in the East Region.
The team will be idle in play from November through February. They begin their spring schedule with a tournament in California.
