Following her fourth Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor earlier this week, Penn State's standout striker Tiffany Weimer has been named the Soccer America National Player of the Week. Weimer broke the Big Ten record for career goals and tied the NCAA record for consecutive games with at least one goal each, helping Penn State to its eighth straight Big Ten championship.
Weimer scored the game-winning goal on Sunday vs. Michigan State. The goal was the 83rd of her career, breaking Penn State alumna and 2001 Big Ten Hermann Trophy winner Christie Welsh's Big Ten record for career goals. For the weekend, Weimer scored goal No. 82 at Michigan on Friday before netting the record-setter on Sunday.
The pair of goals continued Weimer's NCAA-record tying streak. The Connecticut-native's goal vs. MSU marked the 17th-straight game Weimer has scored at least one goal, tying the NCAA record once again for consecutive games with at least one goal each.
