NEWS

Raymond Coward, dean of the College of Health and Human Development (HHD), is leaving Penn State after being with the university for five years, a time that saw the creation of the Women's Leadership Initiative.

The Beaver Canyon surveillance cameras have been monitoring downtown activities for more than two years and the State College Police Department said they have assisted in solving three incidents.

Police agencies around the area are searching for suspects in four of six bomb threats that have been made in Centre County over the last three weeks.

Woman hospitalized after car accident

A display of images comparing abortion to genocide throughout history were on display yesterday as students walked to class on the mall between Willard and Sackett buildings.

Centre Region officials postponed discussion last night on a long-debated road that would allow drivers to bypass eastern State College to get to North Atherton Street.

State College Borough Council member Elizabeth Goreham is one of six running for three council spots Nov. 8, but some council members say her campaign is out of line with borough term limits.

East Halls resonated yesterday with promises of free popcorn and snow cones as events began for Homecoming 2005 in Johnston Commons.

Forget Yoshi and Toad -- Mario and Luigi have a new best friend, someone who promises to make the Mushroom Kingdom playable again.

SPORTS

As Tiffany Weimer scored yesterday afternoon to capture the all-time Big Ten goal scoring record, something was missing.

Penn State men's basketball shooting guard Danny Morrissey will undergo surgery Thursday to repair a dislocation of the patella tendon in his left knee, causing him to miss at least 12 weeks, Morrissey's mother Mary Ellen said yesterday.

Anyone who thinks they can stop the real Michael Robinson -- the quarterback version of Michael Robinson -- please stand up.

The misleading numbers are as such: Illinois scored the first and final points of the game on Saturday. The Fighting Illini offense marched down the field with ease on the initial drive of the game, capping a 12-play, 57-yard drive with a field goal, seizing the momentum early on their homecoming weekend.

When Permian high school football coach Gary Gaines told his team, "Can you be perfect?" he meant something a little deeper than just scores and statistics.

Robinson earns honor for six TD performance

No hats littered the ice, but a few Penn State faithful tossed their caps against the protective netting in the Greenberg Ice Pavilion at the start of the third period Saturday.

When tournaments are seeded, the selection committees are usually trying to arrange their brackets to give the top players the best chance to square off in the late rounds.

Learning experiences are always beneficial, and the Penn State women's tennis team plans on taking advantage of every situation.

Each year at the end of the fall season, six rugby teams from the East Coast travel to Navy for the Mid-Atlantic North/South tournament. This year, the Penn State women's rugby team, ranked second in the nation, was the top seed in the North Division. For the second week in a row, Penn State faced an undefeated team in Virginia, which is ranked third in the nation and the top seed in the South Division.

OPINIONS

Focus of 'no hate' rallies should be investigation, not Portland dismissal

SCIHEALTH

Meterology professor Bill Brune spends his summers jetting around the world in a DC-8 plane.

You can rest easy this Halloween knowing that the eerie moan in the distance is not coming out of the rotten mouth of a zombie.

Squirrels won't have to worry about not finding enough nuts to stock up this winter.

Blisters, boils and warts are defects that may compliment Halloween costumes this year.

Day one: huge bump.

My Opinion: Richard H. Yahner

Two local bands and a 25-year-old punk veteran will take the stage tonight at Crowbar, 420 E. College Ave.
