At the University Creamery, what if you were only allowed to choose between vanilla and chocolate ice cream?
Next year, if a law is not changed in Harrisburg, voters will only have a choice between a democrat and a republican candidate for all statewide offices. Third party and independent candidates for statewide office will have to collect over 67,000 petition signatures just to get on the November ballot.
Have you ever collected signatures? It's not easy. Each needs to be signed by a registered voter, and both major parties will challenge the signatures.
Guess how many signatures the vanilla and chocolate candidates need? Zero signatures. And who do you think wrote the legislation to keep out the competition? Yep, the vanilla and chocolate guys. It's called "competition control." They don't make it illegal to run, just nearly impossible.
If you feel that two parties equal zero choice, act now. Call your house representative and senator and tell him/her that you want more choices. Tell them to co-sponsor the Voters' Choice Act. Bring in new flavors, and watch them start to melt.
