Man charged with rape waives hearing
A Howard man waived his preliminary hearing on charges of rape and incest.
Scott Lewis Hoy, 41, of 2726 Old 220 Road, was arrested Sept. 19 on charges of raping a minor under 13, incest, endangering the welfare of children and 21 counts of indecent assault, according to court documents.
The alleged actions began when the victim was about 8 years old and continued for 10 years, until the victim reported the alleged actions to the Pennsylvania State Police, according to the criminal complaint.
Hoy's first preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 5 was continued indefinitely because his lawyer could not be present in court that day and the trooper that was testifying was not available for another week, court officials said.
Hoy's pretrial conference is scheduled for Jan. 26.
Student waives hearing in assault case
Penn State student Nathan Lehman waived his preliminary hearing yesterday on charges of aggravated assault stemming from an incident that occurred Oct. 8.
Lehman's other charges consist of simple assault, resisting arrest and defiant trespass.
Lehman was warned several times not to enter the playing surface of Beaver Stadium after the Penn State-Ohio State game, according to Penn State University Police. Police said he ignored the warnings, and as he entered the field, struck a police officer in the face. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Jan. 26.
