I agree with The Daily Collegian's editorial that restoring US Airways flights to Pittsburgh from University Park will provide positive results for the local travelling community ("US Airways flight service to Pittsburgh will help State College residents," Oct. 18).
One aspect that wasn't mentioned, however, is that much of the travel originating in State College does not simply end in Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. Customers frequently use these airports to connect to other destinations across the U.S. and the world.
The fact that US Airways customers flying from University Park can now avoid connections through Philadelphia International Airport (along with frequent delays and canceled flights that are often experienced because of the higher volume at that airport) by selecting Pittsburgh as their connecting airport will be a welcome change.
