NEWS

It is a daunting task any time a team or band travels to an away game to face a tough opponent on its field, so the Penn State Blue Band prepared for a tough game on the road this week.

While fuel prices soar, electricity customers will not see a significant increase in rates this winter as a result of state-regulated price caps.

The Ghost Hunters were in town this weekend.

The Nittany Lions weren't the only ones who made their presence known at Michigan's Big House on Saturday. The Penn State student section also drew in a lot of attention as they lifted pieces of broken bleachers into the air, proclaiming, "This is our house."

A New Jersey man waiting to stand trial on charges that he led one of the largest drug rings in Centre County history will have to wait for that trial, pending a ruling on a motion his attorney filed last week.

Penn State will not increase security for the Breazeale Nuclear Reactor, despite an ABC News investigation of college campus nuclear reactors that found the university's reactor security is lacking.

Attorneys representing Penn State and former Penn State women's basketball player Jen Harris will meet via teleconference tomorrow afternoon to discuss possible legal action regarding Harris' release from the program, according to Harris' attorney Karen Doering.

Some Undergraduate Student Government (USG) senators want to voice their opposition to a possible tuition freeze at 20 Penn State campuses, excluding University Park, by holding a rally on campus.

SPORTS

On Saturday the Penn State men's cross country team ran against some of the most talented teams in the nation in the Penn State National and captured a 10th-place finish in the loaded field.

The bull's eye on its back is only growing as the goose egg remains in the loss column.

After a media timeout, a rarity that ensued because ESPN2 was airing the match on tape delay, a public address announcer roared, "Congratulations to Kaleena Walters, who now is Penn State's all-time leader in digs with 1,186."

The field hockey gods were trying to ensure the continuance of a Penn State losing streak against No. 15 Michigan State Saturday at Astroturf Field, but the resilient Nittany Lions overcame an early deficit and a repealed goal to break the slide with a 2-1 victory.

One could say a true test of a team's toughness would be its ability to overcome adversity.

For the third time in four Big Ten games, the Penn State men's soccer team came away with a victory on a golden goal in overtime.

Looking to continue to improve on its doubles play, the Penn State men's tennis team got just what it needed this weekend at the Army Invitational in West Point, N.Y.

An unexpected Nittany Lion paced her team on Saturday when originally redshirted senior Tracey Brauksieck placed 39th out of 289 runners, leading the Penn State women's cross country team at the Penn State National.

When a team has a poor showing, there are two roads it can take.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Two years after spurning Penn State and taking his significant recruiting hype to Michigan, Wilson high school product Chad Henne stuck it to Penn State once again on Saturday afternoon, only this time the Nittany Lions didn't get a consolation prize like Anthony Morelli.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- On one punt return, safety Calvin Lowry typified the play of the Penn State football's special teams.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan's Steve Breaston set up the Wolverines' game winning drive with a 41-yard kickoff return, but Penn State's defense gave way to the Wolverines offense in the final seconds.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- On an afternoon that featured some of the most storied programs in college football history, all playing games of massive consequence, two programs, both steeped in tradition, played a game for the ages. Report card (PDF format).

As if the night couldn't get any worse.
