The Nittany Lion football team isn't the only squad with a powerful defense and an undefeated record at Penn State. The men's rugby team remained unbeaten following a win over Indiana University (PA) on Saturday. W-I-N spelled relief for the Penn State men's soccer team this weekend, as it swept its first back-to-back weekend games against two Big Ten teams since 2001 when the Nittany Lions did the same task against Wisconsin and Northwestern. If the tale of the Penn State men's soccer season was told in book form, you could have the story of the underestimated or the team that persevered. Until yesterday's game vs. Wisconsin, the story of senior captain Brian Devlin's season may have been best seen in Where's Waldo form. The concept of sharing is something taught to every kindergarten student. The Penn State's women's soccer team must have missed that lesson though. After Friday night's season opening win against No. 14 Mercyhurst, freshman forward Lukas DeLorenzo said his team had a "pretty good chance" of beating NCAA Division I team Robert Morris the following day. All last year, while it saw its hard work spoiled week in and week out by its offensive counterpart, the Penn State defense begged for just enough points to give it a lead to defend. The Penn State offense was far from a masterpiece of football art on Saturday, but it scrappily got the job done anyway. In a close game such as Saturday's affair, a play or two can make a world of difference. The two plays that ultimately were the most crucial may have been the instances when Penn State's defense forced timely turnovers in the first and second halves. It's been nearly six months since State College scene-staple and The Bullet Parade lead guitarist Charles Ramsey released his solo debut, Something New. Friday night, Ohio State fraternity band Of A Revolution (O.A.R.) took a few minutes near the beginning of their 90-minute set to let more than 7,000 fans get their chants and boos out of their systems.
