Penn State's Annelise Legel was named Big Ten field hockey Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Legel scored twice on Sunday vs. No. 13 Michigan, helping the No. 6 Nittany Lions (12-1, 2-0) defeat the Wolverines, 3-2.
With the win the Lions stayed perfect in Big Ten action, and extended their winning streak to 12 games, which ties for the second-longest streak in program history. Against Syracuse, the junior forward scored just over a minute into the game to give Penn State an early edge in their 3-0 shutout win over the Orange.
Legel's 11 goals on the season ties for first in the Big Ten with teammate Shaun Banta.
Legel is also ranked No. 1 in points (25) with Ohio State's Yesenia Luces. She is No. 2 in points per game with 1.92, No. 8 in toal shots with 40, and tied for No. 2 in goals per game, checking in at 0.85 goals per contest.
Legel has been a key factor in Penn State's offensive attack this year.
The Nittany Lions are rated No. 1 in the conference in a slew of offensive categories, including scoring margin (3.10), scoring average (4.02 goals per game), total goals scored (48) and goals scored per game (3.69).
