Before the game against Minnesota even started, a group of us had purchased some bottles of soda to take with us into the stadium. As we were walking into the EC gate, a security person confronted us and demanded that we remove the caps from our bottles or we could not enter. When asked why this was necessary, his reply was that a bottle with a cap is a dangerous weapon. Oh please. As if a bottle without a cap could be any more safe.
It makes one wonder from where rules such as this come, and who in their right mind would even choose to enforce them. I hope that when we attend the Ohio State game this Saturday we won't be stopped for carrying a bag of popcorn in, since we all know that popcorn is one of the most lethal projectiles at a sporting event.
