Last week's big catch named play of the week

Coming into Friday night's game against Princeton, the Penn State women's rugby team knew it was going to be a tough match. Princeton finished third in the nation last spring, right behind Penn State, who placed second.

It's been a goal for the Penn State women's cross country team to stick close together and finish.

Sometimes a team just has to play the hand it's dealt.

Like an Academy Award winning actor, the Penn State men's soccer team seems to have a flare for the dramatic.

This is the stuff of storybooks, of memories that can't be forgotten. Turning 19 Friday, freshman forward Jason Yeisley scored both goals to lead the Penn State men's soccer team in a 2-1 upset of Indiana in Bloomington. It was a birthday unlike any other.

For the second time in a week, the No. 2 Penn State's women's soccer team undefeated season hinged on the foot of the freshman forward Sheree Gray.

The No. 4 Penn State women's volleyball team showed on Saturday that it does matter how you play, but it matters more whom you play.

Last year, Penn State's defense stood as a bastion of hope throughout an otherwise hopeless season, but, entering Saturday's game against Minnesota, most of the talk in 2005 had been about the Nittany Lions' revamped offense.

After the game, the question was asked whether or not he was surprised that his coach, for the second straight week, has uncharacteristically allowed him and his fellow freshmen to speak with the media following two defining wins.

For the Penn State men's tennis team, the third time around was not a charm at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Invitational in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., this weekend.

No. 16 Penn State (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) ran the football on Saturday.

Char Morett's field hockey team is going streaking.

The game was already over when Minnesota's backup running back took the handoff on 2nd-and-goal from the 1-yard line during No. 16 Penn State's 44-14 win Saturday.

A 5-0 start will get you a lot of things in the world of college football.
