Letter to the Editor
Democrats fishing for Republican to accuse

The sky is falling, the sky is falling.

In their latest self-parody the Democrats are playing chicken little, except in their fantasy the sky is falling on Republican Party leaders.

Perhaps the most telling part of Jim Coder's letter to the Collegian ("Accountability needed for elected officials," Sept. 30) was his unqualified willingness to give amnesty to those found in the fields of Iraq and Afghanistan attacking American soldiers and Non-Combatants, while he has already found Representative Tom Delay guilty.

Politicians certainly are not above the law, so please, apply it to them as you would any other American citizen. The right to a trial by jury and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty applies to Republicans, too.

The rampant conspiracy theory in that letter is mind boggling. What it boils down to is the mindset put forth so eloquently by Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean: "Republicans are evil." This hate speech is most repugnant when dealing with the President George W. Bush. Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W. Va) recently compared the Bush administration to that of Nazi Germany. Has Bush caused the genocide of millions upon millions of people? No. Why do they speak like this? In the hope that some of it will stick with the public.

The Democrats lost in 2000 and 2004, but of course it is liberal gospel that they were cheated. Recently they tried to get to the president via Karl Rove. There was no wrong-doing there. The attacks will keep coming, and coming, and coming. When will the Democratic Party leaders stop playing games and start doing their jobs as leaders.
