Letter to the Editor
Anti-war protesters worthy of coverage

On Saturday, 40 other students, State College residents and I joined over 100,000 Americans in a united march in Washington, D.C. to protest the war in Iraq. To my disappointment, The Daily Collegian chose to ignore this inspiring event of dissent and democracy and they printed an Associated Press article on the Sunday pro-militarism response rally which was dwarfed in both attendance and message (attracting a mere 400 individuals.)

The march was of historical and patriotic importance and many local students and residents reached out of their way to put an end to the destruction to communities at home and abroad. Therefore, I believe this event warrants greater media attention, starting with our venerable student newspaper.

I believe Penn State students know the truth about this war and oppose the war crimes committed by our administration in the name of our nation. I am speaking about the rampant war profiteering and the indiscriminate bombing of urban residential areas of Iraq. All for reasons we know now to be untrue.

Students need to know that there are others on our campus willing to stand up against a war that is unconscionable and unconstitutional. Please help this growing movement for peace, and give it the media attention it deserves.
