The State College Police Department is currently investigating an assault that occurred at 2:30 a.m. Saturday in front of Canyon Pizza.
Police are reviewing the footage from a surveillance camera located at Beaver Avenue and Locust Lane for information on the assault.
State College police said a "mouth battle" ensued between the victim, a 21-year-old man from Allison Park, his friend and the suspects, which are two to three other men. The argument was allegedly over the victim's friend cutting in the line at Canyon Pizza, 260 E. Beaver Ave., police said.
The suspects confronted the victim's friends about cutting in line, and State College police Sgt. Mark Argiro said the victim's friend was "mouthy" with the suspects.
"The victim said he minded his own business," Argiro said. "Though one witness said the victim was trying to confront the guys."
The suspects allegedly assaulted the victim, and he sustained a cut on the back of his head, a cut on his forehead and swelling all over his face, Argiro said. He was treated at the scene and later treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center, he added.
Argiro said the suspects would be charged with simple assault. He said the incident was alcohol-related.
The assault occurred about an hour and a half before a separate aggravated assault. In the second assault, the suspects were identified with the help of the camera footage, which was cross-referenced with the victim's statements.
The first suspect is described as a white man about 6 feet tall, 230 pounds with a shaved head and wearing a baggy white T-shirt and blue pants. The second suspect is described as a white man with dark hair and a chinstrap goatee with a chrome-type stud piercing in his lower lip, wearing a baseball hat.
"The cameras have given us information to solve at least one assault this weekend, and we will be looking into the footage for information to solve this one," Argiro said.
