[ Friday, Sept. 23, 2005 ] Letter to the Editor
Readers wrong for ridiculing columnist
I have never seen someone take so much crap for expressing their feelings. I am referring to all the letters in response to Thomas Mei's column, "Main campus a let down for PSU transfer student," Sept. 21. This poor kid honestly portrays his feelings about his first month at University Park and gets ridiculed as a result. I think some students forgot that they were reading the opinion section of The Daily Collegian, the place where people can write their opinions. I do realize the rights of people to send in their own letters in response, but if you disagree with Mei's opinion, you should do so respectively and not personally attack him. One person refers to Mei's column as a "whining session," another person says Mei "doesn't know how good he has it," and then suggests he should transfer. Shame on the Collegian for posting letters to the editor that pose no real argument and just attack an individual, and shame on the people who personally attacked Mei. If you don't agree with what someone says, that's fine, but at least be intelligent enough to refute their argument with facts. Jake Ettore
