Letter to the Editor
Christians should leave fictional works alone

After reading the Sept. 13 article on The Da Vinci Code movie protesters, ("Protesters oppose new 'Da Vinci Code' film") I have to vent.

This is a perfect example of how paranoid many overly-religious groups are becoming in our society today. They are so terrified of any free thought that may challenge their out-of-date religious views, they are now protesting a fictional book. I don't know if I believe all of Dan Brown's historical accounts, but I think it is important to stay open-minded and simply enjoy the book (or movie).

So what's next? Should we ban all courses in biological anthropology and astronomy because they challenge traditional religious views? Absolutely not.

So to those of you protesting this brilliantly written novel and its movie, just calm down and remember the book and movie are fictional.

Morality isn't in danger because some question your version of God.
