Student accused of assaulting officer

A 19-year-old Penn State student was charged with aggravated assault, escape and resisting arrest after he allegedly struggled with a Ferguson Township police officer who attempted to cite him for public urination.

Cory Pfahl, accused of urinating on the front bushes of D.P. Dough, 1450 Martin St., fled when a police officer attempted to cite him at about 3 a.m. Saturday, according to court documents.

Police said Pfahl allegedly ran into a wooded area and hit the officer chasing him in the face, causing injury to his lip. Pfahl continued running and struggling until the officer took him to the ground and sprayed him with pepper spray, according to court documents. He is being held on $40,000 bail in Centre County Prison, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.

Kanye West struts into State College

Kanye West will bring his Touch the Sky tour to the Bryce Jordan Center at 9 p.m. Oct. 28. Special guests will include Fantasia, Common and Keyshia Cole.

Ticket sales will begin at noon Friday at the Bryce Jordan Ticket Center, HUB-Robeson Center, Eisenhower Auditorium, Penn State Tickets Downtown and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets can also be purchased by calling (814) 865-5555 or (800) 863-3336, or by visiting www.bjc.psu.edu.Tickets are $29.50 for University Park students with a current ID; public tickets cost $37.50. Lion Cash will be accepted at the Bryce Jordan Center and the HUB only.

Orchestra to hold benefit for victims

The Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra will host "A Little Night Music," a benefit for victims of Hurricane Katrina, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ramada Inn, 1450 S. Atherton St.

Tickets cost $100 per person, and $50 from each ticket will go to the Gulf Coast Orchestra Relief Fund, which helps orchestras affected by the storm. Tickets can be purchased through tomorrow by calling (814) 234-8313. Additional information is available at www.centreorchestra.org.
