Letter to the Editor
Fans motivate team; music not important

I found Doug Wilson's letter ("Music should appeal to all football fans," Sept. 13) quite amusing because of the fact that he contradicts himself.

He said the music should be played for everyone's enjoyment but then asks readers why rap music is being played at a stadium "built very literally in the middle of corn fields." He continues on to say that there are plenty of rock songs to play between plays. So should we just play all rock instead of rap? We'd be left in the same situation. I'm sure there are alumni who don't like today's rock music either.

On top of that, should we just cater to the liking of the group that gives the most money? The students are important as well. If they were to stop going to games I'm sure the football team as well as the rest of the fans would feel a large absence of energy. Let's just do ourselves a favor and worry about the team instead of the music. It's mostly the fans who hype the team, not the music.
