Man charged with criminal trespass
A Horsham-area man was arrested Monday and charged with criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at night time after Ferguson Township Police said he entered an apartment at State College Park Apartments, 348 Blue Course Drive. Police said the man had been seen looking in windows and attempting to enter apartments in the complex. He is currently being held in Centre County Prison on $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14 at Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
Allen St. parking lot to have walkway
The Allen Street parking lot, across the street from the State College Municipal Building, 243 S. Allen St., will have a new walkway connecting it to the public sidewalk and Central Parklet by mid-October.
According to the State College Public Works Department, the 32-space parking lot will also have a new brick plaza and three-hour parking meters installed. Public Works Director Mark Whitfield said the construction should be completed by mid-October.
"We had two main goals with this project," he said. "One was to supply additional parking to be not only used by the municipal building, but downtown business, and second was to provide a green way that would link Allen Street to the Central Parklet."
Whitfield said the project will cost $245,182 for construction and $40,000 for the landscape architect, plants and parking meters.
