All of Undergraduate Student Government (USG) President Galen Foulke's executive committee nominees were approved at the first USG Senate meeting of the semester last night.

"I am really excited to get the job started; they are an all-star team," Foulke said after the meeting.

Two committee members, Matt Burnett and Kyle Metzgar, were re-elected to their positions as information and technologies (IT) director and government relations chair, respectively.

Burnett and Metzgar stressed the need for their own committees to better serve USG this year. "[There needs to be] a committee for IT to help maintain Web sites other than just myself," Burnett said.

Burnett added that his main goal is to focus on the functionality of the USG Web site and a new content management system to allow USG members to update certain Web pages themselves.

Metzger said his main focus will be concentrating on the tuition increases at Penn State. "Tuition is the way to go -- that is what everyone cares about because it is money," Metzger said.

Freshman Mike Ducker was approved as treasurer for the executive committee and spoke about his commitment to the organization despite being on campus for only two weeks.

"Some of the coolest people got involved with USG when they were freshmen," Town Sen. Vicky Cangelosi said. "Don't knock him because he is young."

Other appointees to the executive committee included Jamie Ziegenfuss as director of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender affairs, Brian Cantalupi for athletic affairs, Tiffany Stoner as director of programming, Louise Durante as Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon chair, Adrienne Eggert as legal affairs director, Lauren McGovern for women's affairs, Laura Ferris as business director, Leslie Holmes as public relations director, Ashley Hill as internal development director and Kevin Burnett as community service director. Town Sen. Chuck Buchanan was elected to the internal affairs committee.
