In response to Paul Thompson's article, "Young revives 'hippiedom' with CD," Sept. 1, hippiedom is not in trouble, it's merely evolving.
You cannot judge one's appreciation for music by their mere appearance. So what if the new-aged hippie is changing along with the times? It is no longer 1960; we should embrace the fact that we can happily play our bongos while blasting music streaming from our iPods and should use Wal-Mart for all it has to offer. Where else can we find a screen small enough to fit our bong?
And the occasionally Frisbee throwing does not negate our love for quality jams, but every once in awhile you need a little physical activity, even if it is only to get our heart rate up and feel the next hit of 'love' sooner.
Maybe you are too sidetracked by your self-proclaimed ADD to take another look at this next generation of hippies. Change is only natural; we do what we can to keep it old school, so do not hate on those who skip the occasionally shower and then bust on them for not sticking to the old hippie profile.
Peace and love man. No harshing mellows.
