Two Pleasant Gap residents charged with possession of heroin and intent to deliver controlled substances waived their preliminary hearings yesterday at Centre County Courthouse.
Shauna Foss, 25, and Matthew Klingler, 22, both of 226 W. College Ave., each face two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver one bundle (10 packets) of heroin, one felony count of criminal conspiracy to deliver one bundle of heroin and one misdemeanor count of intentionally possessing a controlled substance, according to court documents.
The two were arraigned June 30 on $125,000 bail each. Foss posted bail and was released July 6. Klingler is still being held in Centre County Prison.
Foss and Klingler are scheduled for a pretrial conference Sept. 15 at Centre County Courthouse, Bellefonte.
Phi Kappa Psi fraternity waived its preliminary hearing yesterday at the Centre County Courthouse in connection with charges that the fraternity served alcohol to minors.
According to court documents, State College Police Officer Kristine Hopkins approached three men, gathered around an 18-year-old man who was vomiting on the 200 block of Locust Lane at about 11 p.m. April 1. Two of the men were 18- and 19-years-old and told Hopkins they each had one to two beers at Phi Kappa Psi, 403 Locust Lane. The fraternity's summer president, Scott Whipkey, confirmed to police there was a social function April 1.
The fraternity is charged with one count of selling or furnishing liquor to minors and one count of unlawful acts relative to liquor.
The fraternity is scheduled to appear at Centre County Courthouse for a pretrial conference Sept. 15.
Michael Gilbert will serve as the new assistant vice president for campus student services within the Division of Student Affairs, according to a statement issued yesterday by Vice President for Student Affairs Vicky Triponey.
The former director of housing services at the University of Massachusetts Amherst will officially begin working Aug. 1.
Gilbert previously served in student affairs positions at Northwestern University, North Carolina State University and Michigan State University.
