The plot is simple and predictable, but the cast is strong, the writing amazing and the timing impeccable throughout what is going to be the funniest movie of the year, Wedding Crashers.
John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Klein (Vince Vaughn) are divorce mediators who, every year, can't wait until the summer's wedding season -- for them, a time for assuming false identities and taking advantage of naïve bridesmaids and lonely women.
After a hilarious first half hour in which we're introduced to the pair -- Wilson's laid back drawl and Vaughn's snappy fast-paced one liners are perfect complements -- the inevitable happens, and both guys fall for a pair of beautiful sisters.
The movie has its ups and downs thereafter. The U.S. Treasury Secretary's (Christopher Walken) daughter is getting married, and when the guys crash the occasion, they start to fall for the bride's sisters (the lovely Rachel McAdams and the creepy-yet-irresistible Ilsa Fisher). While Jeremy goes for a quickie on the beach with Gloria (Fisher), John begins to fall in love with the charming, but engaged, Claire (McAdams). Some of the funniest parts of the movie come when the pair is invited by the Secretary to his estate for the weekend, and viewers are treated to what Meet the Parents might have been if it was rated R and proud of it.
This movie is hilarious -- exactly what you'd expect. And just when it starts to get a little boring, Will Ferrell steps in with a brilliant cameo as Chaz, a chauvinistic man-pig who lives with his mother and has moved on to crashing funerals (for years he was the godfather of crashing weddings).
If you're looking for a laugh, this movie is a can't-miss good time that will leave little to be desired from anyone in the college demographic.
