A State College man was arrested and arraigned yesterday after Pennsylvania State Police found more than 200 Yahoo! chat logs on his work computer about having sexual contact with a minor.

According to court documents, Brian D. Gayan, 37, of 1635 Circleville Road, faces charges of indecent assault after state police and the Area III Computer Task Force found several conversations on his computer in which he told people he had touched a 9-year-old boy's penis and let the boy touch his.

The boy's mother called police and told them she had spoken with Gayan over the phone and he had admitted to indecently touching her son, according to court documents. Police interviewed the boy and he said Gayan had touched his penis on about six occasions and he had touched Gayan's penis on about six occasions.

Men charged in alcohol-related crimes

James Blaine Kalar, 22, of Montrose, W.Va, and Michael J. Waybright, 22, of Parsons, W.Va., were arraigned Wednesday in connection with a drunken driving incident, State College police said.

An employee at Sheetz, 2000 E. College Ave., reported that a tan vehicle left the store with a visibly intoxicated driver, identified as Kalar, heading west on College Avenue. A woman reported that the two men were shouting obscenities at her, police said.

An officer saw the vehicle on the 600 block of West College Avenue and said the passenger, identified as Waybright, shouted obscenities from the car, police said. The car was stopped on the 300 block of West College Avenue, and Waybright was taken to the police station, where police said he swung at an officer in the holding cell.

Waybright was cited for criminal mischief, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct. His bail was set at $750 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 19.

Kalar was arraigned and released on charges of driving under the influence and careless driving. His bail was set at $2,500.

CATA drivers agree to 3-year contract

The Centre Region Transportation Authority (CATA) approved a contract for its drivers Wednesday night.

CATA General Manager Hugh Mose said that when the previous contract expired in February, drivers and management agreed to operate under the old contract until a new one could be signed.

"I think we reached a fair labor agreement," he said.

Mose said the typical length of an agreement is three years and refused to comment on why there was a five-month delay in reaching a new agreement.

Mose would not comment on the contract's specifics, but said it is similar to the old one.

The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, which represents CATA's drivers and maintenance workers, was unavailable for comment.

The new contract will expire February 2008.
