Letter to the Editor
Appropriations more important than raise

According to this week's edition of Time Magazine, Pennsylvania legislators decided that they needed a raise.

The $11,402 increase brings the base salary of a legislator to $81,050, which is the second highest in the nation.

Simultaneously, Penn State is one of the most expensive public universities in the United States.

Our tuition seems to be perennially on the rise as we have faced insufficient appropriations.

Instead of allocating this money to their bank accounts, legislators could be doing more to make a college education affordable in Pennsylvania.
