Letter to the Editor
Lunchtime ruined by athlete's rudeness

This week, I've been helping out with one of the many summer camps that Penn State has to offer to middle and high school kids. I've had a good time showing them around this great school where I've spent my last four years (and where they potentially may spend four of theirs), but an occurrence at Pollock Commons showed the kids unfortunately how this school operates. While all 32 kids, two other counselors and I stood in line with many other hungry students at lunchtime, a meat-headed jock who claimed he played football for Penn State felt he did not have to wait like everyone else.

Instead, he pushed the kids out of the way and cut in front of roughly 50 people so that he could be served first. When the kids asked me why he was able to ignore the rules and get away with it, I responded, "Because athletics here are placed above academics."

It disgusts me that someone could be so selfish as to cut in front of hungry children purely because he felt that he deserved it, and waiting was not something he was required to do.

Well, mister, we the loyal fans have been waiting for a good season for years. Try working on that first before placing yourself among the celebrities "above authority."
