Column disrespectful to Americans, Brits
Josh Pontrelli's column ("London bombings should serve as a mirror to Iraq," July 8) is just another example of a liberal journalist showing his true colors. His reference to the terrorist murderers as "unnamed individuals" left a bad taste in my mouth, but it wasn't nearly as disrespectful as calling the civilian victims "unnamed individuals" as well. These victims not only had names, but also families and other loved ones whose lives were shattered last Thursday. Pontrelli then goes on to state that the attack was "long overdue" and attempts to rationalize the terrorist mindset. He even writes that the only people to blame for these attacks are "ourselves, and only ourselves." Apparently Pontrelli forgot that terrorist attacks had been happening long before Bush invoked his Middle East policy. There is no problem with viewing the world from a different perspective, but please don't attempt to humanize terrorists and justify their cause. Collin Almquist
