G-8 agenda change unfortunate, needed

Collegian's editorial opinion is determined by its Board of Opinion, with the editor holding final responsibility.

Once again, the terrorists have won.

All the trouble of coordinating and paying for nine concerts around the world, all the trouble of having superstars start a call of action aimed at G-8 leaders and the public and all of the discussion about Africa finally receiving global help may not even be center stage at this week's summit.

G-8 leaders have turned some of the attention they might have spent on starvation, famine and deprivation in Africa to the numerous deaths and injuries of innocent civilians in London.

Honestly, the attackers couldn't have timed it more perfectly.

By shifting the focus from Africa to terror, terrorists are succeeding in their quest to wreak havoc. Terror alerts have been raised, security has been tightened and the world's eight wealthiest nations changed their agenda.

The act and resulting agenda change is unfortunate, but neccesary in the sad state of affairs we live in today.
