Poor music choices hurt fireworks event

While at the Central Pennsylvania 4th Fest celebration, I was disappointed with only one thing: the music.

Not once did I hear the "Star Spangled Banner" played during the spectacular fireworks shown outside the Bryce Jordan Center that night.

I also did not hear another patriotic favorite, "Stars and Stripes Forever." Instead, we watched in awe and listened to theme songs from the Pink Panther, Superman and Battlestar Galactica -- not to mention, "Splish Splash I Was Takin' a Bath."

I know that WBUS-FM (93.7) The Bus claimed to be the "official" station for the fireworks extravaganza, but whoever was responsible for the music selection should be fired!

This holiday, indeed this country, deserves much, much better.

I think the vast majority of us believe that Independence Day is a patriotic holiday that deserves complete honor, loyalty and respect.

What we don't need is some DJ to play a collage of Disney music and TV/movie themes while we watch the skies and celebrate our independence.
