The Bellefonte Police Department is now investigating possible sightings of Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar in the Highland Park Boulevard area of Wilkes-Barre on April 18.
An air search was conducted Wednesday by the Penn State Composite Squadron 1303 and Williamsport Squadron 401 of the Civil Air Patrol along state Routes 192 and 45 along the Susquehanna River toward Harrisburg.
According to a statement issued yesterday, the air search was conducted by the Civil Air Patrol and Centre County Emergency Management Coordinator Randy Rockey. Bellefonte police were not available to speak about the possible sightings last night.
A press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. today, at which time Gricar's family members will answer questions.
Gricar was last heard from at 11:30 a.m. on April 15, when he called girlfriend Patty Fornicola to tell her he was taking the rest of the afternoon off from work and going for a drive in his 2004 red and white Mini Cooper. At least two witnesses have said they are relatively certain they saw Gricar outside the Remember When Café, a restaurant being built in the Street of Shops market in Lewisburg, at about noon April 16.
At about 6:30 p.m. April 16, Gricar's car was found in a parking lot across from the antiques market.
Gricar's cell phone was found inside the locked car and had not been used since Gricar called his girlfriend the day before. Police also have found no indication that Gricar used his credit cards, bank cards or e-mail during the two-week absence.
Anyone with information is asked to either contact Bellefonte police at 353-2320 or Pennsylvania State Police at Wyoming at 570-697-2000.
Bellefonte Police Chief Duane Dixon said there was no indication of a change in Gricar's behavior before his disappearance and police have found no indications either that Gricar had any physical or mental condition prior to the time of disappearance.
Fornicola reported to police that Gricar had started to take naps at work and had complained of fatigue.
