Letter to the Editor
Profanity not bad in college newspaper

What's up with all these letters to the editor pissing and moaning about trivial, unimportant crap? Oh wait, that's nothing new.

Nobody submits anything of importance to The Daily Collegian, and this baby right here is further proof of that.

Regardless, who actually attempts to single out a comedian for being crude, let alone the audience for attending?

Have you paid attention to stand-up comedy in the last, oh say, 30 years? That's all it is. Have you not even once stumbled across Chappelle Show and been tempted to laugh?

Ever listened to the comedic geniuses of George Carlin, Richard Pryor and Sam Kinison? Stand-up is all about offending the audience, every possible cross-section of it, in one way or another.

If you don't find it amusing, or feel offended, you certainly have the right to voice your opinion. But in response, I have the right to call you a pretentious moron for trying to play the holier than thou card and attempting to promote yourself as morally superior to anyone who enjoys a good laugh at the detriment of others.

You made your statement; you didn't go to the show. Now finish patting yourself on the back and please return to your cultural vacuum. They're jokes; they're supposed to be over-the-top, ridiculous and hyperbolic.

If you want good, wholesome comedy that the whole family can enjoy, I suggest you watch Fox News.
