Students arrested in on-campus thefts
Penn State University Police arrested and arraigned two Penn State students yesterday on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.
Ian Irrgang, of Hartranft Hall, and Zachary Figard, of Curtin Hall, were apprehended at 3 a.m. yesterday when they attempted to steal a video projector from Thomas Building, University Police Supervisor Thomas Sowerby said.
Sowerby said the students were also involved in a theft in Geary Hall in East Halls between April 15 and 16.
A majority of the stolen property was recovered from the earlier thefts, Sowerby said.
Bail is set at $70,000 for each of the students by District Justice Jonathan Grine and as of yesterday, Figard was still in Centre County Prison, and Irrgang posted bail and was released.
Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for May 4 at Centre County Courthouse.
