Penn State coach Suzanne Isidor said she is one of the best players in the country.
Ohio State (5-6, 3-1) is a speedy offensive team that will look to get a lot of fast breaks. The Lions will also have to be on top of their game as Ohio State plays aggressively on defense.
"Ohio State and Penn State is always a battle," Isidor said. "They are solid all over the field."
The Lions hold a 6-2 series lead with Ohio State. They beat the Buckeyes last season, 13-10. The Buckeyes only two wins in the series came in 2002 and 2003.
Ohio, also struggling, will be coming into the game Sunday with a 3-8 record, and 1-4 in the ALC. They will be at UMBC on Friday before making their way to Happy Valley. Dana Dobbie who has 38 points in 11 games leads the Bobcats. The next closest scorer to Dobbie has 14 points.
Isidor said that the draw control is going to be important. Dobbie has 61 draw controls on the season. Ohio also has the ability to control the tempo of the game, therefore Isidor said Penn State needs to get a quick start.
Penn State needs to play consistently. It has gone 4-4 in its last eight games. The team focused on basics during the week of practice, mainly one-on-one defense and shooting.
"Those were things we felt we need to emphasize," Isidor said. "Our attack didn't shoot well against Northwestern."
Shari Maslin (4) and Emily Chambers (9) battle with Penn players for control of the ball in a Nittany Lions' home victory.
