Penn State Lady Lion head coach Rene Portland will be honored at the 10th annual Inspiration Award Dinner this evening. The dinner raises money for diabetes research in conjunction with the Penn State Diabetes Center at Hershey Medical Center.

"It certainly is an honor and a privilege to be associated with this organization," Portland said. "Lady Lion basketball has always been about helping and caring for other people, and I am proud to carry on that tradition."

Portland will serve as the keynote speaker and Inspiration Honoree at the dinner, which will be held at 6 p.m. at the Nittany Lion Inn.

The dinner will also include a silent and live auction. Dinner organizers raised more than $40,000 for diabetes research last year, and hope to eclipse that total this year.
