"A band could have awesome music but if no one has heard of them no one would come out," Anthony (senior-secondary education) said.
"Plus, there will be a lot of alumni in town and Rusted Root is a band that they can enjoy too since the band's popularity peaked in the mid-'90s," Anthony added.
Fall Out Boy bassist Peter Wentz said the band will pull double-duty on Saturday because it has a show later that night at Bucknell University, as well.
"We've played two shows in one day other times, but we try only to do it when we need to," he said. "You're always on the run and you don't have a lot of time to meet people and hang out."
Wentz said Fall Out Boy's success is due to a combination of good Internet promotion on top of hit singles such as "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy" and relentless touring.
The band has played more than 500 shows across the country in the past two years and is gearing up for the May 10 release of its new album, From Under the Cork Tree.
"We are so excited because it's been, I guess technically for us, three years in the making," Wentz said.
The band enjoyed playing at Crowbar, 420 E. College Ave., a few years ago, and at Pollock Commons in a specifically memorable performance.
"We played some Pennsylvania shows with Punchline, and at the one [at Pollock Commons] all of the power went out during "Dead On Arrival," which was pretty funny," Wentz said. "I remember this dog kennel in Duncansville that we played at around the same time with some band that did a New Found Glory cover."
Wentz said he enjoys outdoor shows, although he said that it will be weird to play a rock show so early in the afternoon.
Singer/songwriter David McMillin will play on Movin' On's main stage this year all by himself.
McMillin said his recordings are sometimes solo and sometimes with a full band.
For the time being, he said, he prefers touring by himself because it's easier. The 20-year-old Indiana native said his career has started to take off a little more in the past year.
The singer/songwriter has been recording and touring for over two years.
"I have an E.P. out now, which is like a preview of my full length album that should be out by January," McMillin said.
He said he is heavily influenced by his favorite band, Counting Crows, particularly its album, Recovering the Satellites.
McMillin said he doesn't mind if he never reaches Counting Crows-size status, adding that he just enjoys playing music -- whether to two people or 20,000.
"I especially like these end of the year outdoor college festival shows because you get to see a bunch of bands you wouldn't normally play with," he said. "This one I am particularly excited about because Rusted Root is playing. They are really a great band, and I'm looking forward to watching them and the rest of the bands after my set."
Tokyo Vertigo has gotten big across the bar scene this semester and play at The Brewery regularly.
