SPORTS

As the halfway point of the regular season has just passed, it would be easy to say the Penn State baseball team hit that midseason wall last weekend.

There's no place like home. That seems to have been the motto for the Penn State men's lacrosse team this year, at least before last night anyway.

Take a cue from the music selection in this apartment on this particular night, and it's easy to set the scene. 50 Cent's new album, The Massacre, is blasting from an upstairs sound system, and the lyrics say it all.

Imagine concluding your fifth year of college. You're already a super senior. Now you find out you have to come back in the fall to do it all again.

The end of semester crunch is here.

Surrounded by stars of their sport, the Penn State women's track and field team didn't lose focus at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays. Instead, with Marion Jones in the background, the Nittany Lions used the three-day weekend to prepare for the future.

Ask any casual tennis fan, and he or she will probably tell you that, of course, tennis is an individual sport.

Carrying its momentum as surely as the hungry man carries his loaf of bread, the Penn State club baseball team (12-4, 7-0 New Penn West conference) swept another weekend against a conference foe, taking three games from Robert Morris University this weekend.

The scene is all too familiar: the play seems perfectly executed until the only player left on the field is not moving. Though this is an extreme scenario of a concussion, it occurs often in the world of sports and is seen most notably in football and rugby.
