Letter to the Editor
Political affiliation not on applications

So for the past couple of weeks I've had the pleasure to observe incessant bickering courtesy of the Young Americans for Freedom about how 68 percent of the professors here are liberals, and that there is some kind of ultra left-wing conspiracy against non-liberals on this campus.

Here's a sobering fact: My good friend's dad has worked on several hiring committees before; politics never comes up in the hiring process. In fact, they're not even allowed to ask about marital status. The committees simply want the most qualified person for the job. How's that for diversity?
