Ben Ramprasad's myopic comparison of cows to dogs annoyed and humored me at the same time ("Cows not in mutual bond with keepers," April 13).
I'm not even going to go into his ignorant reference to the Bible of "it's okay, 'cause the Bible says so." Americans don't eat dogs because culturally they have been regarded too much as companion animals.
I guarantee you that there are people in other parts of the world that do eat dogs, but quite frankly, herbivores' meat has been thought to taste better.
To further emphasize the point of cultural importance, did you know that horses were originally domesticated to be used as a food source?
It wasn't until someone discovered how great they are to ride that they became regarded more as companion animals.
If that didn't happen, maybe we'd all still be eating horses and riding on cows instead. It's all just a matter of cultural differences.
