Q: I have a boyfriend who uses radioactive iodine, and we want to have a child.
After all of this radioactive iodine, is it going to be OK for us to have a child together?
A: That's a good question, and you are very wise to ask that before you try to get pregnant.
But it would be best to check with the endocrinologist or radiation oncologist involved in your partner's care.
Both you and your boyfriend should discuss this with his doctors or healthcare providers.
In the meantime, please make sure you are using very good, effective forms of birth control.
