Letter to the Editor
The Collegian again downplays GOP view

Why is it that The Daily Collegian feels they must do whatever they can to vilify some student groups on campus, while exulting and glorifying others? In yesterday's paper, you ran an article with the headline, "Club aims to increase number of Republican professors," like it's some sort of conspiracy against Democrats.

But the first quote in the article, by the leader of the group responsible, is "We're not saying, 'Hire more Republican professors.'" The article continues by quoting not one, not two, but five individuals who, in their own ways, refuted or marginalized what Young Americans for Freedom was trying to do.

Yet, other than Shauna Moser, no one in support of the effort was interviewed; no negative experiences documented. How typical and convenient.

I could use clichés like "turn the tables" or "what if it was a liberal group," but those arguments are stale. The Collegian has heard them so many times, yet do nothing to balance itself. The editor's higher calling is obviously to shun some student's opinions.

Hell, I guess I should just be happy that the event was covered at all.
