According to the organization's Web site, www.whospositive.com, it strives to improve the quality of life for those living with HIV and AIDS as well as to encourage the prevention of the virus through programming and outreach.
He said that the organization is proud to work with The Lion to promote awareness of HIV and AIDS among students.
Donahue said that he hopes that through the use of music, the groups can influence students to think wisely about decisions that affect their own personal lives.
"One moment of irresponsibility changed my life forever, but not only did it change my life it changed the lives of so many people around me, my parents, my sister, friends and roommates," Donahue said.
"One decision will affect my life forever, and that is what I hope to communicate to the students," he added.
Donahue said that he will offer an insight of what it's been like living with HIV and stress the importance of HIV testing during a short speech.
The Lion's Vice President and Promotions Director Terenia Thomas said that along with Donahue's speech and the performers, the show will include a short, informative film put together by The Lion's staff.
"We wanted to put on a concert, and have people have a good time, but we want to educate them as well," Thomas (senior-marketing) said.
Thomas said that they decided on a hip hop concert to increase diversity of the on-campus programming because she didn't think there had been a lot of hip hop shows this year. She added that The Lion's hip hop program is one of the most listened to shows on the station.
"A lot of people seem to be excited for The Clipse," Thomas said.
Aaron Wright, (sophomore-secondary education), program director for The Lion and one of the coordinators of the show, said The Clipse was discovered by Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes and is based out of Virginia.
He added that E. Ness was one of the two performers out of thousands chosen by P. Diddy on MTV's Making the Band 2, and that the performer was passed up by many record labels before being discovered on the show.
"It isn't just all hip-hop. DJ Ron Don is a reggae DJ who just won an award for reggae mix tape of the year, so that will add to the diversity of the show," Wright said. "It should be a good time."
