Letter to the Editor
Gripes about liberals at PSU getting old

Here we go again with the whiny conservatives ("Collegian must start covering 'real news,'" April 5). Zimmerle claims that homosexuals are not worthy of news coverage since they or their events are not "real" news.

What exactly are you afraid of? That the big, bad gays will come and get you if they become too powerful?

What's next?

Trying to convince me that I should respect your disgust for homosexuals and if I don't, I am not accepting of diversity?

He then lashes out at The Daily Collegian's staff for not covering topics he deems "real news," such as lawmakers being property owners (which to me would inspire a mighty yawn among students) and the "liberal bias" in the classroom (as if we didn't know it already). My question to him is, "Why don't you cover it?"

If you insist on being such a critic for not covering issues that you think are important, then become a staff writer for the Collegian.

It's pretty easy to complain than to take action.

Lastly, he touches on an issue that has been beaten to a pulp.

Of course we know that Penn State is a liberal institution.

You would have to be living under a rock not to see it.

But honestly, what exactly can you expect from most institutions in this neck of the country?

Though organizations like the College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom do an excellent job at presenting "the other side," how about you take some personal responsibility in the fact you chose to attend a liberal institution?

The liberal bias gripes are just plain old!
