A fund has been established in the memory of the family which perished in a tragic plane crash near Penn State on March 26.
The Jacober Family Foundation, an entity created in memory and honor of the family of Penn State men's lacrosse captain Michael Jacober, has been created to "nurture and foster the ideals that the Jacober family cherished."
Michael's father, Jeffrey; his mother, Karen; and brother, Eric, as well as three family friends, died when their plane went down near Bellefonte. The family was en route to University Park Airport to watch the Penn State men's lacrosse team play Fairfield.
The Jacobers were well-known in Rhode Island philanthropic circles. Jeffrey Jacober was chairman and CEO of Ocean Group, Inc. Karen Jacober was a teacher.
More than 1,000 people turned out for their funeral service last week in Providence, R.I.
Persons interested in donating to the foundation may send contributions to: The Jacober Family Foundation, c/o Carl Freedman, Esq., One Park Row, Suite 300, Providence, R.I., 02903.
